CM has assured to give land to welfare society: AIKS
Vijayawada, Nov 23 (UNI) All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) Vice-President Kolli Nageswara Rao today said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had assured the CPI-led delegation, which met him recently, that 3000 acre of sea shore land would be distributed to Samudraveni Poor Welfare Society.
Addressing a press conference here, he said more than 1000 acres of fallow lands were available all along the seashore of Machilipatnam and Pallatummalapalem.
Mr Rao said as many as 1500 people belonging to fishing community and Backward classes had formed the 'Samudraveni Poor Welfare Society' to start salt fields and improve the standard of living.
Mr Rao alleged that the government had allotted 6,000 acres of sea shore lands to corporate sector like 'Bharat Salt' by ignoring the poor people.
