Sinha optimistic Pakistan will help curb terrorism
Jammu, Nov 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt-Gen (Retd) Srinivas Kumar Sinha expressed hope that Pakistan would implement the joint mechanism signed with India to fight against terrorism ''honestly and sincerely''.
Talking to UNI, Lt-Gen Sinha welcomed the signing of joint mechanism between the two countries to fight against terrorism, but asserted that India is having an ''unreliable neighbour'' in Pakistan.
''Since its creation, Pakistan has signed many agreements with India, particularly on Jammu and Kashmir, but never implemented any,'' he observed.
He said, India will watch the action Pakistan takes against the issue of terrorism.
''We hope Islamabad will help stop the training camps of terrorists running in Paksitan-occupied-Kashmir,'' he said.
However, he expressed surprise over the proposal of ''self-rule'' as a solution to the Kashmir issue.
Asserting that India is the largest democracy of the world, Mr Sinha said, ''In real term, the democracy is the second name of self-rule and Jammu and Kashmir is being ruled by its own people, from the Panchayat level to the Parliament of the country.'' He lambasted the political parties for demanding self-rule in Jammu and Kashmir, and said, ''They themselves don't know what it (self-rule) means.'' UNI HGV VJ AD GC1927
