IndiGo takes delivery of its fifth A320 aircraft

New Delhi, Nov 22: IndiGo has taken delivery of its fifth brand new Airbus A320 aircraft from Airbus Industrie.

It will operate this aircraft to start daily service from Mumbai to Jaipur with a same-aircraft continuation to Delhi and back, and daily round-trip service from Delhi to Goa from November 25th.

IndiGo's president and CEO Bruce Ashby said: ''Within a span of four months of launching revenue operations, we have taken delivery of our fifth Airbus A320 aircraft. This will further help in enhancing the route network for our passengers.'' The low-cost airline will get six new aircraft from Airbus this year as part of its firm order of 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft that will be delivered at a steady pace over the next 10 years.

IndiGo will have six airplanes by year-end and an additional nine next year, taking the fleet size to 15 by next year-end. It will serve Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Vadodara, Jaipur and Goa with its first five aircraft.

The airline proposes to serve about 30 Indian cities by 2010 with a fleet of 40 A320s.
