Raj HC directs govt to reallot cancelled land to sportsman

Jaipur, Nov 21 (UNI) In a significant decision, Rajasthan High Court today said all sportsperson in Rajasthan are eligible for land allotment, provided they have attained the required parameters at international level, be it Olympics, Asian, Commonwealth or SAARC games.

Justice Dilip Singh gave this verdict while admitting the petition filed by Major Narpat Singh Rajpurohit.

Rajpurohit had won a gold medal at an international-level brave canoeing and swimming competitions and was alloted a land in Bikaner by the state government in return for his good performance.

Later the state government cancelled the allotment saying he did not win any medal in Olympics, Commonwealth, Saarc or Asian games.

Major Rajpurohit challenged the state government's orders in the High Court. The High Court has directed the state government to reallot the land to the sportsman within three months.
