Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) The special MCOCA court here today extended till December 1, the police custody of two Unani practitioners who were arrested by the Anti Terrorist Squad sleuths on November 6 for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts.

Salman Farsi Abdul Latif Aimi (35) and Farogh Anwar Iqbal Ahmed Magdumi (33) were produced before Judge Mrudula Bhatkar with a plea that the custody of the accused be extended till December 1.

While seeking further custody, the ATS told the court that both the accused were subjected to scientific tests and preliminary reports indicate their involvement in a deep-rooted conspiracy.

The ATS informed the court that a detailed report of the tests is still awaited, besides scrutiny of seized records is underway and, so, further custody of the accused was essential.

The prosecution told the court that the two Unani practitioners were arrested on the basis of interrogations of three other accused who had been arrested earlier.

Salman Aimi was practicing in Gowani while Farogh was practicing in Malegaon in Nashik district. They allegedly often held meetings with other co-conspirators to hatch the conspiracy.

On September 8 this year, three blasts had occurred in and around a mosque at Malegaon in Nashik district in which 25 people had died while 240 others were injured.
