Jeev jumps to 63, Randhawa 80th in golf rankings
New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Thanks to his tied third finish in the UBS Hong Open, Jeev Milkha Singh leapfrogged seven rungs to 63rd, while compatriot Jyoti Randhawa moved up nine places to 80th in the latest Official World Golf Rankings.
Jeev, who has secured two victories at the Volvo China Open and Volvo Masters in Spain this year, finished joint third at the UBS Hong Kong Open at the weekend to notch up his 14th top-10 appearance of the season.
Jeev also lifted the UBS Order of Merit title for the first time in his career at the Volvo Masters of Asia at Thai Country Club from December 14-17.
And if he maintains his position inside the top-64, Jeev will gain an exemption into the WGC-Accenture Match Play next year while a top-50 spot by the end of the season will see him gain an invitation to play in the US Masters next April.
Jeev is among 14 Asian Tour members who currently feature in the top-200 of the world ranking.
Indian Open winner Randhawa, who also finished equal third in Hong Kong, moved up nine places to 80th position, while Shiv Kapur, who finished tied 13th in Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan, climbed nine notches to 175th.
Talking to mediapersons here today, Randhawa, however, refused to attach much importance to rankings and said it didn't really matter to him.
Asked where would he ilke to see himself in the ranking ladder next year, Randhawa said,''It doesn't really bother me. I mean you can't predict where you would land -- it maybe top 100 or even the top 20.'' Taiwan Masters winner Gaurav Ghei, however, slipped to 207, while Orlando-based Arjun Atwal languishes at 251 in the rankings.
