Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) Justice S C Dharmadhikari of Bombay High court today vacated the protection from arrest of Advocate Bhikaji Salvi, facing charges of harassment of his wife.

Earlier, the Kalyan Sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail of Salvi. The matter was subsequently withdrawn from the High Court before the same appeal was rejected here.

Advocate Ashok Mundargi, appearing on behalf of the petitioner and his assistant Narendra Bondre, told the court that his clients were practising lawyers and being falsely implicated in the case. In the first place, Salvi was not married to complainant Chitra Sandip Chaudhari.

However, prosecution lawyers Rasheed Mirza and Swapnil Pednekar submitted that the petitioners have committed offence of serious nature and are trying to avoid their arrest.

According to Chitra, she met Salvi for her matrimonial case as well as her father's cases. Within some time, the two were married by tying a 'mangalsutra,' allegedly without consent and began living together despite both having divorced their respective spouses.

She had also alleged harassment from 2002 and was told to get her child aborted in December 2004 by Salvi, who had impregnated her and signed a consent letter for the same bearing name Chitra Bhikaji Salvi.

The complainant also alleged that Salvi was defaming her by showing obscene photographs and recordings taken by Bondre, while she was leaving with him and blackmailing her.

The police sought arrest of both the accused for interrogation in the matter and also for procuring the photographs and recorded CD of the complainant.
