WB gov to introduce a law to decide admission and tuition fees

Kolkata, Nov 20 (UNI) The West Bengal government would introduce a law to determine admission and tution fees in private educational institutions, Minister for School Education Partha De said today.

To questions in the Assembly, De said that guidelines regarding fees would have to be worked out keeping in mind the diversity of the private educational institutions.

The government, however, has no intention of controlling the institutions by enacting the law.

Admitting that the government did not have any policy for giving no-objection certificates to private educational institutions, he said that such certificates were usually given on the basis of application of their authorities.

Seeking clearance, such institutions, however, were required to furnish the government with details of their governing bodies, the recruitment policy for teaching and non- teaching staff, steps it would take for academic excellence and steps it would take in settling disputes.
