Mizo seeks help of experts for waste management

Aizawl, Nov 20: Mizoram Public Health Engineering department minister Tawnluia today said the government has taken initiaitives for managing waste's in the state.

The state government had sought advice from the experts for the waste management, as the state is still lags behind others in the process.

Addressing an interaction programme on waste management here yesterday, experts from NE states, West Bengal and Orissa have suggested the need to follow the reliable waste management system operation, as done in other states.

Local Administration department minister H Vanlalauva said his department had taken charge to dispose waste in six districts.

''Garbage collection here has been handed over to a private firm and 19 mobile garbage trailers have been placed along this route to clear the garbage,'' Mr Vanlalauva stated.

He further said Compost Development Corporation of Karnataka is working as a consultant for the state's waste managment project.
