India-Iceland relations on firm footing: Shekhawat
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today said there was a lot of scope for expanding bilateral cooperation between India and Iceland paticularly in the field of science and technology.
"Potential for mutual cooperation in pharmaceuticals, Gene Mapping, Information Technology, Bio-Technology, earth-quake forcasting technology and other areas of science and technology between the two countries exists in abundance," the Vice President said while receiving a Parliamentary delegation from Iceland at his residence here.
Mr Shekhawat said parliamentary exchanges were important component of relations between India and Iceland and India was keen to develop it further.
India, he said, was keen to set ups an international institute for earthquake precursor studies and expressed happiness to have Iceland as partner in harnessing the potential of science and technology for mutual benefits.
The Vice President also praised Iceland for their consistent support to India's candidature for a permanent membership in UN Security Council.
