Haryana grants Rs 14.70 crore for women university
Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to spend a sum of Rs 14.70 crore for strengthening the infrastructure of the recently instituted university for women in Sonepat district.
Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said the government had also sanctioned 171 non-teaching and 70 teaching posts for the Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan.
He said Haryana was the first state in the entire northern India to set up university for women, which would also focus on professional and advanced studies.
He said the University would definitely empower the women, as it would be a centre of excellence in the country.
The Minister said the university would offer courses such as IT, Computer Education, Medical Sciences, Biotechnology Environmental Studies and Management Studies.
All the affairs of the University would be handled by the women only except ex-officio appointees.
He said Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Revenue) Promila Issar had been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the university while Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sonepat Anita Yadav as the Registrar.
