Haryana contributes 50 per cent production of automobiles
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Mr Suresh Yaduvendra, Director of Small Scale Industries Service Institute, stressed the need for upgradation of technology, manufacturing quality products of international standard for sustained growth in the automobile sector.
Addressing a seminar on 'Scope of Automobile Industries in Haryana', he said that presently the NCR has become an automobile hub and investment in this sector in Haryana has touched Rs 18,000 crore while achieving a turnover of Rs 60,000 crore.
The director informed that more than 50 per cent passenger cars, motorcycles, scooters are manufactured in Haryana.
The seminar was organised by Rai Industrial Manufacturers Association in collaboration with Trade Fair Authority of Haryana at Haryana Pavillion in India International Trade Fair-2006 at Pragati Maidan today.
He emphasised on the need of vendor development programme in growth of automobile industry in the state and said the process of industrialisation started with Faridabad in engineering industry which further gained momentum after establishment of Maruti Udyog in Gurgaon in early eighties.
Mr Yaduvendra mentioned that the economic growth of the country started after announcement of liberalised industrial policy in 1991 by the Central Government.
Mr Gaurav Bhatia of Kranti Automobiles, manufacturers of 'Nandi' brand three wheelers in Rai Industrial area, said that their product is competing with established brand of Bajaj.
He said the company has manufactured 16,000 three wheelers and selling the same on competitive price due to advantage of fuel efficiency, strong chassis and other factors.
The President of Rai Industrial Manufacturers Association, Mr A P Chhabra and General Manager of Industries, Sonepat, Mr Kuman Singh Goyal also spoke on the occasion.
