New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Activists of Falun Gong here today urged Chinese President Hu Jintao to lift the ban imposed on them and stop their alleged persecution in the country.

The activists, dressed in yellow (a colour banned in Paris during the Chinese President's visit, under pressure from the Chinese security forces), addressed mediapersons and appealed to Mr Hu to stop relentless persecution of Falun Gong followers and lift the ban.

''We follow Chinese president wherever he goes and try to build opinion through media against persecution,'' said Jenice, from Singapore.

A German woman, Erica added they had pinned their hopes on Mr Hu, who according to her, has been known to be sympathetic to Falun Gong. She claimed that the Chinese President needed some 'encouragement' to lift the ban.

Claiming to be an ancient technique of self-development, Falun Gong is an eclectic mixture of Taoist and Buddhist principles.
