4-day INS conference on energy foresight from tomorrow

Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) The Indian Nuclear Society (INS) is hosting its 17th annual conference, INSAC-2006, beginning here from November 21 on the theme ''Energy Foresight: India 2050''.

The conference will be inaugurated at the hands of eminent agricultural scientist Prof M S Swaminathan. Former Atomic Energy Commission chairman Dr M R Srinivasan will deliver a theme talk on ''Energy Foresight''.

Experts will deliberate upon various subjects during the four-day conference like ''Energy Foresight'', ''Energy Financing and Investment'', ''Emerging and Advanced Technologies'', ''Environmental Impact'' and others.

Despite impressive growth in the total installed capacity since independence, the annual per capita energy consumption in India is among the lowest in the world. In view of this, the conference will discuss all available energy options and related issues including investments, efficiency, improvements, savings, transmission, transport, smart energy systems, R&D, as also the foresight for fuels and technologies for the transport sector.
