2,700 petrol pumps in Maharashtra on strike
Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) All the 2,700 petrol pumps in Maharashtra went on an indefinite strike from last midnight, demanding that the sales tax in the state should be brought down to 20 per cent from 34 per cent.
City-based Petrol Dealers Association chairman Ravi Shinde told UNI all the 240 pumps in the metropolis were participating in the strike.
Earlier also, the Association had organised the strike for the same demand.
They were also demanding parity in the sales tax with the neighbouring states, where the rates are lower.
According to the Association, they had received a message from Sales Tax Commissioner B C Khatau saying that their demands were being considered.
