Schemes, reservation for Gujjars being diverted to other in JK, TRCF

Srinagar, Nov 19 (UNI) The Tribal Research and Cultureal Foundation (TRCF) has alleged that ten per cent reservation and schemes for Gujjars are being diverted to others in Jammu and Kashmir.

A survey conducted by the TRCF said that there was no representation in the civil secretariat and other government departments and educational institutions.

The TRCF secretary Javid Rahi alleged that the schemes for the welfare of Gujjars are being diverted to other communities in the state.

He said the survey revealed that ten per cent reservation under Schedule Tribes (ST) is being given to other non-Gujjar tribes, including Boost, Bada, Gaddi, Sippli, Shina, Drokpa and Champ because of their political influence.

Mr Rahi said even after the six decades of independence, there has been no improvement in the condition of Gujjars who were exploited by all successive governments.

He alleged that this tribe has been marginalised in power sharing and is reduced now to most neglected and ignored community.

He said Gujjar who comprises 15 per cent to 20 per cent of total population in the state has hardly any representation in the administration.

The survey said that there is only one Gujjar under secretary in the whole of the civil secretariat.

It further said that there is no IPS and IAS officers in the state.

Mr Rahi said the Gujjar employees are also being neglected in promotion.
