Kidnapped Punjab youths rescued by Bengal police

Bangaon, Nov 19 (UNI) West Bengal police today rescued two kidnapped Punjabi youths, who were tied up with ropes in a jute godown in remote district here.

The youths- Rakesh Sharma (32) of Bahinda and Narendra Sharma (28) Sangrur districts of Punjab had been abducted from Kolkata airport on November 15, were rescued from Gopalnagar area in North 24 Parganas, police said.

Police found the duo in a jute godown at Beledanga in Gopalnagar where they were tied up with the ropes. The godowon is owned by a dreaded criminal.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that they were abducted when travelling by a Santro car which they had hired from the airport to visit Dakshineshwar kali temple. But they found themselves in captivity in a godown when they regained conciousness next day.

Police raided the godown following a tip off.

Local police informed their counterparts in Delhi and Punjab to know details about them and inform their parents.

They were being produced before a local court today.
