Army careful to check entry of unscrupulous elements into forces
Port Blair, Nov 19 (UNI) The Army is scanning authenticity and domicile of every candidate before recruitment to prevent the entry unscrupulous elements.
''There have been reports of anti-national elements getting into armed forces and so we are very careful during recruitment,'' said Col Gurvinder Singh, Director of Chennai Zonal Army Recruitment.
Col Singh and his team were in Port Blair presently where Indian Army would conduct recruitment rally for Andaman candidates for different posts in Indian Army this week.
''We have involved Officers of district administration and Education department for verification of domicile, nativity and qualification certificate of the candidates appearing for the Army recruitment being conducted in Port Blair for the authenticity of candidates,'' Col Singh said.
Col Singh said checking mechanism was already there in Indian Armed Forces but after media reports came out saying unscrupulous elements were getting inside forces, the Indian Army has tightened its policy of recruitment.
''Earlier we used to do police verification after recruitment but from now the police verification would be done before recruitment to make sure that only authentic persons are getting into the Indian Army,'' he said.
According to the Army colonel, besides these precautions, there is also a monitoring mechanism for Defence personnel inside Armed forces.
Talking to reporters in Port Blair, Col Singh said the documentation will start from November 19, 2006, and will continue up to November 20, 2006 for recruitment of candidates from the Andamans.
Physical and endurance test will take place from November 21 to 22 and the medical test will be conducted on November 23, 2006, after which a combined examination for the successful candidates will be held in the stadium itself on November 26.
''After scrutiny by the recruitment zone, Chennai, the results will be declared on January 18 and the recruited candidates will be sent to the place of training after police verification,'' Col Singh added.
