GPAMDS demands educational auditing of SFIs in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Nov 18 (UNI) The Gujarat Parent's Association for Medical and Dental Students (GPAMDS) today demanded that the State Government should make a law for 'Educational Audit' in Self-Financed Institutes (SFIs) being run in the state to control and monitor the prevailing irregularities in these institutions.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Manish Doshi, an executive member of GPAMDS and syndicate member of Gujarat University, said, like the financial audit, the educational auditing should also be made compulsory in SFIs to prevent irregularities in admissions as well as fee structures.
Accusing the SFIs in Gujarat of manipulating their balance-sheets to justify the hike in fees and admission process on reserved seats for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for their developmental works, Mr Doshi demanded that the Gujarat Government should make a law to quarterly verify the educational auditing of these SFIs. He also alleged that in many of these SFIs, most staffers were existing on papers to justify their very high fee structure.
Mr Doshi also demanded the introduction of a merit-based single window system to make the admission procedure simple and added that at present, a total of 17,000 seats were allocated to 156 SFIs in Gujarat ranging from medical to engineering courses.
