Drive against rowdies contine in Chennai city, 2406 arrested
Chennai, Nov 18 (UNI) The drive against anti-socials continued in the city with the arrest of 2406 rowdies by the Chennai city police so far.
Informing this to reporters here today, City Police Commissioner Latika Saran said the traffic police had launched a drive against vehicles which did not have proper number plates. So far 1750 cases, most of them two-wheelers were booked.
Ms Saran warned that severe punishment would be initiated if two-wheelers did not have proper number plates as per the norms of the Transport department.
Referring to the menace of share autorickshaws in the city, she said the police were already on the job and so far they have verified the credentials of 200 share autorickshaws and shortly such vehicles would be regularised for the benefit of the public.
The Commissioner said the police were also making all out efforts to nab these anti-social gangs, who were inventing new methods to rob people.
