CPI to raise UNI issue in winter session of Parliament
New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) will raise the issue of the sale of majority stake in UNI to a media house in the winter session of Parliament beginning Wednesday.
This was stated by CPI leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta while addressing the agitating workers of the news agency here today.
''I will be the first person to raise this issue in Parliament as the move is not only an assault on the freedom of the press but is also scuttling the free flow of information so vital for the functioning of the democratic set-up,'' the veteran Parliamentarian said.
Mr Dasgupta, who is also the general secretary of the party labour wing, said he would raise the issue in the rally to be organised here soon in connection with the all-India general strike on December 14.
''We will pass a resolution in support of the UNI agitation,'' he added.
