Brad Pitt relishes Banarasi Paan, Lassi on Ganga ghats
Varanasi, Nov 18 (UNI) While Hollywood star Angelina Jolie had a tough time shooting for the movie 'The Mighty Heart' in Mumbai, miles away in this holy city her equally famous husband Brad Pitt had a leisurely time playing chess and relishing Banarasi Paan and Lassi on the majestic riverfront.
The 42-year-old star of films like 'Spy Game, Troy and Mr and Mrs Smith' arrived in the holy city last morning by a chartered flight from Mumbai and straight away went to the Ganga Ghats to snap the prized glimpse of the world famous 'Subahe Banaras,' his local host and theatre personality Rati Shankar Tripathi told UNI here today.
While the Hollywood couple has had a tough time evading the paparazzi in the western part of the country, there was hardly anyone from Varanasi who recognised the international film personality on the lively riverfront.
The short stint at the majestic riverfront was punctuated by Brad relishing a boat ride on the sacred river, besides playing chess with boatmen at the Darbhanga Ghat, enjoying Lassi at Rajendra Prasad Ghat and relishing the unrivalled flavour of Banarasi Paan at the Lal Ghat.
''He was mesmerised by the mystical charm of Varanasi and labelled the city as the city of his dreams. May be Angelina too could take time out of her busy shooting schedule to come here he said,'' maintained Suman Pathak, who accompanied him to the riverfront.
While none of the locals could identify the Hollywood actor, the foreign tourists who had come for an early morning glimpse of the Ahilya Bai Ghat were surprised to she their favourite hero and clambered for autographs, Ms Pathak added.
Ms Pathak, however, refused to divulge any possible plans of Angelina visiting the city with Brad in the near future.
