289 vehicles seized and 4585 others fined in Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 18 (UNI) The Traffic Police in Kashmir seized 289 vehicles and fined 4585 others for violating traffic rules in the Valley.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Abdul Hamid said a massive drive had been launched in the Kashmir valley, particuarly in the city, against the drivers in order to avert frequent traffic accidents.
He said during the drive, the traffic police booked 4585 drivers and recovered a fine amount to the tune of Rs 6.62 lakh during the first fortnight of this month.
Mr Hamid said 105 vehicles were also challanged for failing to produce pollution under control certificate as per the Jammu and Kashmir High Court orders.
He said 40 vehicles were booked for plying without registeration.
The traffic police have also seized 289 vehicles, he added.
Mr Hamid said the drive will continue against the erring drivers in the Valley.
