Senior IFS officer sent to police remand in HPCMPT case
Shimla, Nov 17 (UNI) A local court in Himachal Pradesh today sent a senior IFS officer to one day police remand in the Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT) paper scam case, official sources said.
Geeta Ram Sahibi, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Soil) in Forest Headquarters in Shimla, was arrested by Shimla police yesterday for allegedly buying PMT paper from a tout, identified as Balraj Singh.
Sahibi's daughter had secured fourteenth position in the first merit list of the PMT but didn't appear in the re-examination that was ordered by the HP High Court.
The sources said police had sought Sahibi's remand, as he was not co-operating in the investigations that were on to probe irregularities in the conduct of the examinations.

Meanwhile, the HP High Court today also rejected anticipatory bail applications of eight parents accused of buying papers for the wards.
Dismissing the applications without issuing notice to the prosecution, the court said Om Prakash, Durga Das Sharma, Dutt Ram, Ramata Devi, Parvati Devi, Sher Singh, Duni Chand Yadav and Dev Raj should apply for regular bail.
The people whose bails were rejected belonged to Mandi and Kullu districts of the state.
Kuldeep Rao, state's Excise and Taxation Minister Rangila Ram Rao's brother, who had also applied for the anticipatory bail withdrew it later as he had applied for regular bail in the District Sessions Court.
