Punjab cabinet approves Singapore firm for developing Mohali
Chandigarh, Nov 17 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today approved the proposal by a Singapore based company to develop Mohali, a suburb which falls in the Chandigarh Capital Region (CCR).
The meeting chaired by state Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh gave the go ahead to Jurong International Consultancy Pvt Limited to formulate the plan for the future development of Mohali.
The Cabinet granted approval to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the company with Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). Under the MoU, the company will prepare a Master Plan for the development of the area falling under the jurisdiction of GMADA.
The Cabinet also approved the fixation of price of land being acquired by Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) or GMADA for setting up various Urban Estates. Approval was also granted to any future policy or plans of PUDA or GMADA for compulsory acquisition of land on the basis of the recommendations of the Cabinet sub-committee on land acquisition.
The Cabinet also approved to transfer the land for construction of Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition at Boothgarh village in Mohali district. Likewise it also gave approval to transfer ten kanals of land to Punjab Tourism and Development Corporation (PTDC) tourist complex, Pinkcassia at Ropar in lieu of building structure relating to Surajmukhi Tourist Complex, Khanauri to the irrigation department, for the purpose of flood control.
