Ministers to meet on safe transportation of school children
Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said he would hold discussions with Transport Minister K N Nehru shortly on issues pertaining to the safety of school children, to and from the school.
In his informal chat with reporters on the sidelines of a convention of school headmasters and principals here, he said the recently formed special task force to assess the safety measures for school children during transportation had come out with a detailed report after studying various issues including the streamlining of private vans and auto rickshaws that carry school children.
He also pointed out that the report had also dealt with the change of colour of school buses.
The Road Safety Patrol (RSP) would be made an integral part in the schools across the state and promoted in the lines of National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC).
Mr Sunil Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Traffic, Greater Chennai Police and also the chairman of the task force said RSP would be made mandatory in all the city schools.
