Johnson leans on Lee to calm nerves
Sydney, Nov 17 (UNI) Anxiously waiting for his Test debut during the Ashes, Aussie left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson says had it not been for his mentor Brett Lee's support, he would have been finding it extremely difficult to cope with the nervous moments leading up to the much-anticipated series.
''Brett has been there for me, I'm learning about him and I'm learning about myself as well,'' Johnson was quoted by 'The Courier Mail' as saying.
''When we are in the nets I feel very comfortable going up to him if I am finding it hard,'' he added.
Johnson said Lee has advised him to give the best and not regret about a day's performance to remian in a healthy state of mind.
''Brett's best advice has been to just go out there and give it my best, have no regrets. You don't want to come off the field thinking you could have done this or that,'' he said.
''If he's working on something it will make me work harder as well,'' he added.
The left-arm pacer, who was drafted into the Australia's 13-member squad for the first Test starting in Brisbane on November 23, is eagerly waiting to be picked for the final 11 and said he had come a long way since a disastrous ODI debut.
''In my first game against New Zealand I got smacked around but I've learnt a lot since then,'' he said, referring to his figures of 0-64 in the match.
