Visakhapatnam, Nov 17 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard today rescued a Sri Lankan fishing boat 'Malintha Puth-2,' which went missing after leaving Trincomalee harbour on November 3, with six members onboard.

According to a coast guard release here, the Sri Lankan High Commission passed on the information to the Indian coast guard Maritime Sub-coordination Centre, which deployed the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Chandbibi for search and rescue operations.

After a few days of search operations in the Bay, ICGS Chandbibi found the fishing boat south-east off Visakhapatnam.

In another incident, seven fishermen of Devunalada village in Srikakulam district, who set sail on November 15 on four catamarans, returned to the Kalingapatnam shore in the early hours of today.

Talking to reporters here, village sarpanch A Eramma said the seven fishermen arrived safely.

The fishermen said as the sea was rough, the boats capsized and as a result, nets worth Rs 40,000 were lost.

The Fisherfolk Welfare Society secretary Apparao has demanded the state government to compensate for the loss.
