Bodyguards arrest stalls Jolie shoot in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 17 (UNI) The shooting of Hollywood star Anjelina Jolie starrer 'A Mighty Heart' could not take place today following the arrest of her three bodyguards due to the fracas at a South Mumbai school where the filming was taking place yesterday.

The incident involving parents, media and the bodyguards took place when the shooting was in progress at the school. Chaos prevailed when the media, breaking the security cordon, tried to enter the school premises and at the same time, the school children rushed after the primary section session was over and parents could not find their wards.

Parents filed a complaint with the Azad Maidan police against the school Management for allowing a film shoot during school hours and also against the bodyguards for using foul language. Onlookers heard the bodyguards referring to the locals present as ''bloody Indians''.

The three security guards were arrested by the Azad Maidan police and were granted bail by a local court on a bond of Rs 25,000 each. They were arrested on charges on manhandling and abusing students and parents.

Granting bail to Thomas Mcdum, Robert Petrick and Michel Johnson, Additional Metropolitan Magistrate M H Belosay directed them to report to Azad Maidan Police till November 23 and submit their passport to the investigating agency.

The trio was booked under section 298 (uttering words with deliberate intention to hurt religious feeling of any person), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (ii) (threat to cause death) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The entire crew was present at the Court when the security guards were presented for hearing of their bail application.

Despite the chaos at the school yesterday afternoon, some scenes were shot in the Gateway of India area in South Mumbai last night.

Anjelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, 'Brangelina' as they are popularly called are in India since the past month for the shooting of the film based on the life of journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Karachi in 2002. Pearl had lived in Mumbai for seven years working for the Wall Street Journal. The film is an adaptation from his wife Mariane Pearl's book by the same name.

The crew was stationed in Pune for five weeks after which they arrived in Mumbai for the final shooting last Saturday. The crew is expected to be here for atleast a week.
