HC directs Delhi Govt to complete land record in 6 months
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today asked the authorities to complete the land record of the Capital within six months and directed the land owning agencies-- Delhi Development Authority(DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD) and Land&Development Organisation (L&DO) to submit the land records to the state Government at the earliest.
While hearing a PIL on unauthorised constructions in the Capital, acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma said the suthorities should comply to their October 10 order by appointing a nodal authority to remove confusion among the land-owning agencies.
Counsel Rajive Bansal said a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Union Urban Development Secretary and letters had been sent to the land-owning agencies to submit the repords.
However, despite sending the letters a month back, the land-owning agencies did not submit the records till the date, he said.
The Court directed the DDA, MCD and L&DO to submit the relevant records with the authority as soon as possible.
On the submission of the NDMC Counsel, the court directed the authorities to clear the unauthorised constructions in and around 65 buildings in Connaught Place, the centre of Delhi.
The Court directed the Central Government to clear the 51.7 acres land in Karol Bagh owned by the CPWD and put a boundary wall, so that the land was not encroached upon again.
Additional Solicitor General P P Malhotra, appearing for the government, submitted that 50 percent of garbage dumped on the land had been removed and the encroachers had been evicted.
The MCD, DDA and other authorities had been directed to file status report before the monitoring committee 15 days after every hearing, so that the committee would take stock of the situation before filing its report, said the court.
