Haryana for bringing Metro to Faridabad by 2010
Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) The Haryana government is making concerted efforts to get Faridabad connected with Delhi Metro Rail services by 2010, state Chief Secretary Prem Prashant today said.
''A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be inked on November 17 in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for connecting Gurgaon to Delhi through the Metro rail,'' he told reporters here.
He said the Metro facility would be available from Delhi border to IFFCO Chowk, in Gurgaon. This would incur an expenditure of Rs 333 crore, out of which Rs 111 crore would be spent by the Central government, Rs 111 crore by Delhi government and Rs 111 crore by the Haryana government.
A target had been set up for extending the Metro facility to Gurgaon by the year 2009, he added.
Mr Prashant said there was another project to connect Faridabad with Metro rail after 2010 as it came under the second phase. The state government was, however, making efforts to bring Faridabad project in the first phase so that it could also get the Metro facilities along with Gurgaon.
He said about 4,080 retrenched employees had been adjusted in various departments by the state government while the remaining 125 retrenched employees would also be re-employed soon.
