Ceasefire agreement hinderance to Nagaland police: DGP
Kohima, Nov 15 (UNI) Nagaland police was facing difficulty in containing factional violence among underground outfits due to the Centre's prevailing Cease-fire Agreement with two National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) factions, state Director General of Police (DGP) J Changkija has said.
Inaugurating a function at the Superintendent of Police office yesterday, Mr Changkija said with the prevailing cease-fire the state police was facing a manpower shortage to confront the problems caused by the armed factions.
However, he claimed that despite frequent factional clashes, there was relative peace in the state.
The DGP also said the police had no problem in dealing with the law and order situation other than the factional clashes.
He called upon his officials to be more vigilant, careful and tackle the problem diplomatically.
The Home ministry had sanctioned Rs 27 crores to the state police to modernise the department so as to combat the factional clashes, Mr Changkija added.
