Specialised training to be made compulsory for doctors: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 14 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathy today said specialised training would be made compulsory for new doctors appointed in the Health Department in the state.
Inaugurating a one-day training programme for field workers in the Health Department organised in connection with World Diabetic day, she said a scheme would be undertaken to imparti specialised training to existing doctors, nurses and field staff in the department.
Pointing out that medicines worth Rs 900 crore were consumed by Keralites annually, she said as the new living conditions and inadequate exercise caused for many diseases.
With the training to nearly 15,000 field works in the Health Department, the government aimed at creating social awareness, she added.
The Health Minister said the department would cooperate with the ''Clean Kerala Project'' being implemented by the local bodies.
