Petition against permitting to raise water level of dam dismissed

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed the review petition filed by Mullaperiyar Environmental Protection Forum against its order permitting Tamil Nadu to raise the water level of the Mullaperiyar dam to 142 feet and permitting the further strengthening of the dam.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal declined to entertain the review petition on the ground of the same being misconcieved.

Petitioners have sought the review of the order on the ground that the life and safety of the people of three districts in Kerala will be in danger if the dam is not resistant to earthquakes.

Kerala has been opposing the move of raising the water level of the dam .
