Chennai, Nov 14 (UNI) As many as 64 pairs of twins studying in the same school here celebrated Children's Day today with a cultural show in a bid to enter the Limca Book of Records.
The event was staged at the Velammal Higher Secondary School, which has about 12,000 students on the rolis. Recently, the school authorities conducted a survey and found that 64 twins were studying in the school.
They then decided to celebrate Children's Day in a different way, Mr P Prabhakaran, School Principal said.
The school administration announced that the 64 twins, identical, unidentical and mixed, would perform a variety show.
The twins conducted a parade wearing identical clothes to kick off the cultural programmes, which included Tamil folk arts like 'Villuppattu', 'Esapattu' , Western dances and songs, and a recital of 'slokas' for about 90 minutes.
In the run up to the Children's Day celebrations, the school authorities had organised a week-long 'one question quiz' asking students 'What is 64'? to find out whether they were aware that 64 twins were studying in their school. The students, including the 64 twins themselves, were surprised at this revelation.
The twins also took a national integration pledge after staging the programmes.
