K'taka Govt to buy onion in open market
Bangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) Taking into considertion the steep fall in the price of onion, the Karnataka Government has decided to purchase onion in the open market at Rs 500 per quintal, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced today.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said the Government had instructed the officials concerned to purchase onion in the open market to safeguard the interests of farmers and stem further fall in the price.
The Chief Minister said ''presently the price of onion was higher than the Government support price in the market and the decision would ensure that it will not fall below the support price.'' UNI MV GD SKB1906
