Jeev beaten but World Team wins Goodwill Trophy against US-Europe
Hong Kong, Nov 14 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh was outplayed by Swede Henrik Stenson but Rest of the World team overcame the odds to beat a combined Europe-US side and capture the inaugural Goodwill Trophy here today.
Starting the day with a one-point lead from yesterday's foursomes, the Retief Goosen-led side won two of the four singles matches to win 6 to 5 1/2 overall.
Asian duo of Jeev and China's Zhang Lian-wei disappointed today.
Stenson beat Jeev 3&2, whilst Zhang lost to Spaniard Alejandro Canizares by a stroke.
Seasoned Australian veteran Peter Senior beat Welshman Bradley Dredge to clinch the issue for the Rest of the World side after South Korean K J Choi had chalked out a one-shot victory over Briton Paul Casey.
In the foursomes yesterday, Jeev and Zhang came from behind to finish all square against Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty.
