IFFCO honours two cooperators with Sahakarita Ratna and Bandhu Award

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) On the occasion of its 53rd anniversary, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Co-operative Ltd (IFFCO) today conferred Sahakarita Ratna and Sahakarita Bandhu Awards to two of its co-operators for their outstanding contribution to co-operative movement in Maharashtra and Orissa.

Mr Shankarrao Genuji Kolhe was bestowed IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna Award for 2005-06 for his contribution to co-operative movement in Maharashtra.

Similarly, Mr Jagneswar was conferred the IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award for 2005-06 for his notable role in strengthening the cooperative movement in Orissa.

The awards carried an amount of Rs 1,01,000 each, a shawl and a citation.

The awards are presented every year by IFFCO in a function ''Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial IFFCO Lecture'' generally organised during the Co-operative Week Celebrated in the country from November 14 to 20, which also coincides with the birthday of Pandit Jawharlal Nehru.

In this years's 19th Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial IFFCO Lecture, the views of Dr Haldor Topsoe, eminent technocrat and Chairman of Haldor Topsoe International Associates, Denmark, were delivered by Dr Fleming Topsoe, the son of Dr Haldor Topsoe.

So far, 22 eminent co-operators have received the prestigious IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna Award and 13 co-operators have been honoured with IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award.

Sahakarita Ratna Award was instituted in 1982-83 and Sahakarita Bandhu Award in 1993-94 as IFFCO's humble contribution to strengthen the co-operative movement in the country.
