Euphoria's 'Dhoom Pichook' inspires Parineeta director's next filM

Varanasi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Indipop group Euphoria's chartbuster single 'Dhoom Pichook' has inspired the famous director of Parineeta Pradeep Sarkar to shoot his next film in Varanasi.

''My association with this mystic city dates back to my association with Euphoria. While directing the music video of Dhoom Pichook and then seeing the final results myself, I made up my mind that one day I will shoot a full length feature film in the vibrant city,'' Mr Sarkar told UNI last evening.

Interestingly, the lead singer of Euphoria, Dr Palash Sen ''Polly''. already a star in his own right, hails from the crowded Aurangabad locality of the city which has long been the favourite haunt for Bengalis.

''It is not the quintessential Bengali fascination, but the inspiration drawn from Dhoom Pichook that has driven me to Benaras,'' he maintained.

Refusing to divulge much about the film produced under the Yash Raj banner starring Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek Bachchan, Konkana Sen Sharma and Jaya Bachchan, Mr Sarkar said it will be totally different from his famous directorial debut 'Parineeta'.

''It will be a fun film to watch based on an excellent script that will perfectly meld with the jovial Banarasi culture and the peerlesss galis and ghats of the tourist city.'' When asked about the association of four Bengalis in the flick crew -- Pradeep Sarkar, Jaya Bachchan (earlier Jaya Bhaduri), Rani Mukherjee and Konkana Sen Sharma -- Mr Sarkar said ''it is purely coincidental and not deliberate.'' The film will be mainly shot in Varanasi and Mumbai.

For the last two days, the film has been shot in the riverine localities of Meerghat, famous for its wrestling ground and Ahilyabai Ghat, also forming a part of the 84-ghat strong majestic riverfront.

The film, whose title has not been divulged as yet will also be shot on other ghats and serpentine lanes of the city, besides the Ramnagar Fort, housing the royal family of Kashi across the sacred river.
