Delhi to only encourage small 'non-polluting' industry
New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government will encourage small 'non-polluting' industries in the national capital.
''The population of the city is increasing and being the capital of the country, more industries are required and are coming up but we will encourage those industries that are non-polluting and require less space,'' she said after inaugurating the 'Delhi Pavilion' at the India International Trade Fair here.
We will push for industries like Information Technology, service sector industries, corporate houses and media industry, she added.
''Already service sector industries constitutes 70 to 80 per cent of the city's total industry,'' she said.
Talking about the 2010 Commonwealth Games, she expressed satisfaction over the pace of preparations in the capital and hoped that all venues and other infrastructure would be in place well before the event.
About the Games Village in East Delhi, she said the ball had been set rolling and construction at the site would be completed as per schedule.
Talks with the Uttar Pradesh government were on to get a part of land, required for the Games Village, which was under their control, she added.
Reacting to news reports that three newly-launched air-conditioned UP State Transport Buses had been impounded by authorities in Delhi, she said though she did not know the details but the ''long-standing'' dispute of running public buses in each others states would be resolved by the ministers and transport department official concerned.
Delhi Pavilion at the IITF this time was given the shape of a stadium, keeping in mind the Commonwealth Games. It showcased the achievements and future plans of the state government.
