Yum Restaurants plans 100 KFC outlets in India
Kolkata, Nov 13: Yum Restaurants International, the owners of world renowned fast food chain Pizza Hut and KFC among others, is planning to take the total number of KFC outlets to 100 in India within the next three years with around Rs 250 crore investment.
Yum Restaurants and its franchisee Devyani International Ltd runs around 20 KFC outlets in 11 cities now, Yum Restaurants International's director- business development, Indian subcontinent Ajay Bansal told reporters here today.
The investments would be made by both the company and the franchisee.
"We are planning to replicate the China model in India. The China market has shown phenomenal growth and Yum Restaurants and its franchisee run 2,000 outlets in that country at present," he said.
Mr Bansal and Devyani International chairman Ravi Jaipuria were in the city to open KFC's second outlet in Kolkata. " We plan to take the total number of KFC outlets in the city to 10 by 2008," they said.
" We will source the chicken from local approved vendors," Mr Bansal said.
Yum Restaurants and Devyani International also run around 130 Pizza Huts, which clocks a turnover of around Rs 200 crore.
Yum Restaurants is also exploring possibilities of bringing in fast food brand "Taco Bell" in India. The company had introduced the brand in 6,500 restaurants in the world and derives around 20 per cent of the worldwide turnover from the brand, Mr Bansal informed.
