Two jawans, militant killed in fierce encounter in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 13 (UNI) Two army jawans and one militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in a fierce gun-battle at border area Khour, 35 km from here, while three security force personnel, two policemen and a jawan, have been injured in the operation, army and police officials said here today.
The security forces started an operation after getting information about the presence of three Lashkar militants in the area. The encounter was still on when reports last came in.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Jammu) Mukesh Singh told UNI that one militant had reportedly been killed in the encounter. Two soldiers of Sikh Light Infantry laid down their lives in the operation.
''Two police personnel and a jawan have also been injured in the encounter, which is still going on,'' the SSP said.
The wounded soldiers have been hospitalised. The slain militant is yet to be identified, but he was a hard core Lashkar militant.
One AK 47, four magazines, three Chinese grenades and 30 AK rounds were recovered so far, army sources added.
