Central, Northern Railways to clash in Surjit Hockey women's final

Jalandhar, Nov 13 (UNI) Central Railways will clash with Northern Railways in women's final after they beat Chandigarh XI 4-0 and Pepsu 6-0 respectively in the semi-finals of the 23rd Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament here today.

In a one-sided match, Central Railways took the lead in the 15th minute through Ranjana who found the net with a flashing shot.

After conceding the lead, the Chandigarh girls turned defensive and this did not help them as the Railway girls pumped three more goals in regular intervals.

Ranjana completed her brace with another goal from a penalty corner in the 25th minute while Sarita netted two fine field goals in the 27th and 56th minutes.

The second semi-final between Northen Railways and Pepsu XI was virtually a cakewalk for the Railway team, scoring goals almost at will.

Pritam and captain Gurpreet scored two goals each for the winners while Balwinder and Ramneek contributed one goal each.

In the men's semi-finals tomorrow, Punab Police take on last year's runners-up Indian Oil Corporation while Bharat Petroleum Corporation play and Punjab and Sindh Bank.

The finals will be played on Wednesday.
