BJP in path of Women Representation Bill : Brinda

Dumka, Nov 13: CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat today alleged that the BJP was against the Women Reservation Bill and coming in its way of getting tabled in the Lok Sabha.

Talking to reporters here, Ms Karat admitted that there were certainly differences of opinion on the issue but that could not pose obstacles in making unanimity emerge in the House.

Referring to the recent statement of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi regarding Women Reservation Bill, Ms Karat said the CPI(M) would take initiative to bring the Bill to the House.

She accused the BJP of changing their stand and said they were not ready to see ''due'' represntation of women in politics.

Urging political parties to make their stand clear on the issue, Ms Karat said the Bill should be brought in the House, and amendments if required be made.

She was here to attend the two-day divisional workshop of the party.
