3427 Bangladeshi infiltrators in Orissa- Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13 (UNI) The Orissa government has identified 3427 Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the state Assembly today.

In a written reply to BJP member Pratap Chandra Sharanghi, the Chief Minister said so far no instance of any of these Bangladeshi infiltrators involved in sabotage had come to the notice of the government.

Mr Patnaik said while 1649 Bangladeshi infiltrators were identified in Kendrapada district, 848 were recorded in Malkangiri, 780 in Nabarangour and 150 in Balasore district.

Out of 1649 infiltrators in Kendrapada district, the Quit India notices were served on 1548 Bangladeshi infiltrators. However, on the advice of the Government, their deportation had been kept in abeyance till the reverification of their claims against the deportation.

Mr Patnaik said direction had been issued to the Kendrapada District Magistrate to conduct the reverification, adding appropriate steps for deportation would be taken only after the completion of the reverification.
