Srikolayat bandh on Nov 13

Bikaner, Nov 11 (UNI) Farmers in Phase II areas of Indira Gandhi Canal Project (IGCP) have called a bandh on November 13 in Srikolayat in Bikaner district to demand adequate irrigation and drinking water from the project.

The farmers are demanding water from the Srikolayat, Bagadsar and Gajner Lift Project under the IGCP. The Vyapar Mandal, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Khadan Mazdoor Union, AITUC and other organisation have supported the bandh call.

Informing about the bandh, state president of Samajik Nyaya Manch and legislator Devi Singh Bhati said the farmers of Phase II areas are asking for their rightful share of water. He said the state government is being unduly pressurised by Phase I farmers. If the state government gives into their unreasonable demands, they will have to bear the long term negative consequences of their decision.
