Sharad Pawar undergoes angioplasty, PM calls on NCP leader

New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called on Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, who underwent angioplasty at a city hospital.

During his ten-minute stay, Dr Singh enquired about Mr Pawar's condition and wished him a speedy recovery.

Mr Pawar, who was admitted to a city hospital after complaining of chest pain, underwent angioplasty today.

Doctors attending on him at the Escorts Hospital said the procedure was performed on Mr Pawar to remove a blockage from a blood vessel in his heart.

At present, he is admitted to the IICU in the hospital ''Mr Pawar is stable. We have advised him rest for about three day days,'' they said.

Pawar, 66, was under observation at the hospital, where he was rushed to yesterday afternoon.

The minister was about to leave for a flight to Mumbai when he said he felt unwell.

His wife Pratibha Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule rushed to Delhi last night.
