Police hunts absconding SDM for raping daughter

Lucknow, Nov 11 (UNI) Following the Uttar Pradesh government's directive, the state police has launced a massive drive to arrest Mohaba sub-divisional Magistrate Virendra Kumar for allegedly raping his daughter.

The man in question Virendra Kumar Dohre is posted at Mohaba.

''We will get him in a day or two,'' a senior police officer asserted here today.

The case dates back to October 2001, when Dohre's daughter filed an FIR alleging harassment and rape by her father. Dohre was then Dehrapur SDM in Kanpur Dehat.

''I sent a letter to the then DIG, IG and other senior officials as well. But instead of taking action against him, the administration asked him to conduct an inquiry into it,'' she alleged.

In 2002, the victim left her home and went to live with a relative in Varanasi. Till then, Dohre had allegedly raped her repeatedly. When she became pregnant, she decided to leave home but the SDM forced her to get the foetus aborted.

After the incident, she married a distant relative Dr Satya Prakash against Dohre's wishes.

On April 5, 2002, she once again lodged a complaint with the then DIG, Home Secretary and UP DGP. But there was no action. She alleged that her father got her brother-in-law killed and also framed her father-in-law and husband in a kidnapping case.

She met state DGP Bua Singh and Principal Home Secretary Satish Kumar Agarwal about a month ago. On the directives of the Home Department, Auraiyya police had lodged an FIR against the SDM.

Since there was no action at the ground level, senior officials have directed the police to arrest Dohre without any delay.
