Parliamentarians pay tributes to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad
New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) Parliamentarians today paid rich floral tributes to the great freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his 118th birth anniversary at the Central Hall of Parliament House.
At a simple function held here, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani paid floral tributes at the portrait of the leader.
Azad was a renowned thinker, an educationist and a brillant orator.
The portrait of Azad was unveiled in the Central Halon December 16, 1959 by then President Dr Rajendra Prasad.
Others who were present at the function include, the inister of State for Parliamentary Affirs B K Handique, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan and Secretary General of Rajya Sabha Yogendra Narain.
