Cairns bats for Kumble's inclusion in the ODI

Bangalore, Nov 11 (UNI) The combination of spin duo of Anil Kumble and Harbajan Singh will make India tough team to crack, Kiwi All rounder Chris Cairns today said.

Talking to newsmen here he said ''I dont understand why Kumble was left out for ODI's by India. Kumble has to play, Kumble and Harbhajan would be a good bowling pair for India and and their combination would make the side more tough to crack especially in bowling area".

Stating that upcoming bowlers S Sreesanth, Irfan Patel and others needed experience and more concentration he said Kumble, being experienced and a most successful bowler could add confidence to the team.

Replying to a question, he said that India was doing well and it had improved a lot. "However, India needs experienced leader in bowling and Kumble, with his vast experience could take the position. Young pace bowlers need experience." To another question about former Indian Skipper Saurav Ganguly making a comeback, he said that " since Yuvraj Singh has been injured Ganguly has good opportunity to come back." About Sreesanth, he said that " I liked him, he is a nice bowler, he lacks experience and that is what lacking India since they dont have a good swing bowler.' About chances of New Zealand in the 2007 World Cup, he said that "I think there is need to be improve in batting as well as bowling and we have already started working. I think New Zealand can reach Semifinal level. Though Australia is a good team it may have to face tough teams including West Indies, who are playing well now, India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka".

When asked did he regret having retired, the former Wisden Cricketer said that " it is tough to take decision about retirement and there is never be a right time for retirment. For me I retired on top of my game. I have a young family. I played for 16 years and New Zealand is in good hands. The amount of training and playing and I was away from family for long time." Cairns was here along with Daniel Vettori to play matches with under privilaged boys. They had played in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.
